I started Blue Dot HR almost 10 years ago to help business owners manage their people and deal with tricky situations. I knew a lot about HR and not much about marketing – so deciding on a company name was low on my priority list.
I named the business Blue Dot HR because I’m a science geek. I’d heard Carl Sagan explain that from the edge of the solar system, earth is just a little blue dot. I thought that was a great analogy. To the small business owner, their business is the centre of their universe. But unless you know our back story (or you’re also a geek) the name Blue Dot doesn’t really speak to what we do. As I learned more about marketing, I realised it was time for a change.
Last year, when I was reflecting on the first ten years of business and planning for the next decade, I started to think about our core essence:
Engaging cultures, managers, and teams to work on purpose is at the heart of what we do.
I knew that the word ‘engage’ had to be in our name. And liking to keep things simple, I left it at that!
We are now Engage HR. We design HR from the ‘outside in’ by aligning workplace strategies to our clients’ growth strategy and their external brand. To turn these strategies into reality, we develop internal HR and management capability, arm clients with the right tools and provide ongoing support.
People’s actions are influenced by how they think and feel. To deliver the customer promise, your employees must have a strong intellectual and emotional connection to the organisation. I’d love to chat about this concept of engagement with you. Message me to catch up over a coffee.
